    1. Hi there @premobowei, NDDC (the providers of this scholarship scheme since its inception few years ago) has never added Eduction as one of the field of study for this scholarship.
Thus to predict that such will be the case for next year's scholarship is unreasonable. To ascertain this fact, you will need to wait till next call for scholarship applications OR write NDDC at the address provided above. Goodluck

    1. Hi @Annonymous, the NDDC Oversea PG Scholarship is for admission into PG courses outside Nigeria for Nigerians from the NDDC states.
If you are a Nigerian studying an undergraduate course, and ALREADY HALFWAY through your course, then you CANNOT apply for this scholarship towards your CURRENT course. However, if you are in a first degree medical course (for MBBS/MBBCh or similar), then you can apply for the scholarship towards a MEDICAL MASTERS course when you are done. If you are already in a masters NOW, then you can apply for it towards a PhD when you are done.

YOU CANNOT APPLY WHEN YOU ARE IN AN UNDERGRADUATE COURSE OR HALFWAY INTO THE COURSE YOU INTEND TO APPLY SCHOLARSHIPS TO. To apply, you must fill in the official online form. Just follow the 'More Scholarship Information and Application' link provided in the article above. If you still need further clarification, please write the scholarship providers at the address provided above. Goodluck!

  5. Pls how do i go abt satisfying the first prerequisite (applicants must have gained admission into a recognised University abroad)?...am from a Niger-Delta state with a discipline in Agriculture....i also want to know if it's a free tuition scholarship..thanks..pls reply

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To gain admission into a university abroad, you must apply to a foreign university, and be accepted into a course of study at that same university.
Regarding your second question, the scholarship article above says, "This is a Full-fee scholarship. Therefore, all fees and expenses will be paid." Is that not self-explanatory? It means ALL fees and ALL expenses you are expected to incur are incorporated into the scholarship, so you pay nothing. Hope you're clarified.

    1. Hi @chinyere, it is an eligibility criteria that you MUST have "Gained Admission into a Post Graduate Programme in any of the listed disciplines in a foreign University." This is an essential prerequisite. You MUST apply to a foreign university FIRST and be given admission b4 applying to this scholarship!

    1. Hello there, i'd say it falls somewhere between Geosciences and Environmental sciences depending on your school. But most candidly i'd want you to write an email to the providers just to make assurance double. Cheers!

    2. ADDENDUM:
In addition, i'll also like to add that most scholarship providers appreciate the fact that some schools have certain disciplines with different names and/or under different faculties from other schools and what is generally popular. Bearing this in mind, send them an email at the address in the above article. Ciao!

Judging from what the sponsors want, YES, you should be able to apply, and you should.
However, it is important for you to note that we at Study & Scholarships are not the sponsors of this award. NDDC are the sponsors.
There's an e-mail in the article above for candidates who may have challenges of any kind. Please write to that email.

  19. I think another name for Nigerian leaders is wickedness... they don't have the interest of ordinary Nigerians at heart.. how would they expect a citizen who can't sponsor him/her self in a local university to have gain admission in a foreign university(talking about condition 2 above).. if they don't want to give out the scholarship, they can pocket the money or give the scholarship to their children and family whom they've stolen Nigeria money to send to study abroad afterall that is what they specialized in.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hello @celestine truth is you don't need money to gain admission into any university abroad. :) All you need is for you to locate a school of interest and apply.
Agreed...some schools may request a processing fee before processing your application but those fees are usually very minimal - $15 to $75, depending on the school.

REMEMBER that this processing fee is not requested by all schools, so you can spend some time online going through what each school requires and apply to only those you're comfortable with.

      Goodluck!

  22. Please I want to know if someone who has already started his or her PhD in the US since last year August (Fall 2013) is qualified for the NDDC Foreign Scholarship Program 2014. Also, is there any qualifying exams to be taken after the application? Also can my guarantor be my former University Lecturer/Professor? Finally, the christyatako@nddc.gov.ng email address does not seem to be valid. Thanks

    1. Hello, you are admitted and enrolled into a foreign university (important criteria). But your eligibility after having been in your course close to 6months is what must be confirmed from nddc.
Qualifying exams used to be a part in the past.
All your questions should be confirmed from nddc. As clearly spelt out above--

      "For Further Enquiries please contact:
Director, Education Health and Social Services (NDDC)
      scholarship@nddc.gov.ng"

  24. Hi. I am looking at starting my masters in Psychiatric nursing next year January or August. Does nursing fall under the category of medicine? Is the scholarship bi annually or once a year just in case i decide to start in January? Did i have to apply to the one that just closed in February to get it for January next year? Also, I did not do NYSC and do not have time to do it before I start my masters as i have to get my work experience. That would be the only item I may be missing if at all I miss anyone. Is that absolutely necessary to qualify for the scholarship? Thank you in advance.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, nursing is under medicine. Award is bi-annual. If you apply for the next one, you can use it for January next year, but the earlier the safer. NYSC is MANDATORY. Hope your queries were all answered. Goodluck!
