Scholarship Description
The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE) is happy to announce the SAWISE Angus Scholarships for female students entering their Honours level/ 4th year of study.

SAWISE is involved in the offer and award of two scholarships - the SAWISE Angus Scholarship (for sub-Saharan African Women) and the SAWISE Hope Scholarship (for South African women). SAWISE is a dynamic association for all those who support the idea of strengthening the role of women in science and engineering.

The SAWISE Angus Scholarship is awarded every year to Sub-Saharan black women and the criteria for eligibility is as laid out below. Successful applicants are expected to become active members of SAWISE.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the SAWISE Angus Scholarship, all applicants must:
  • Be a sub-Saharan black female
  • Have achieved 70% or above grade average in her subject of study.
  • Only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering)
  • In any field of science and engineering.
South African applicants will be given preference. The successful applicant should become an active member of SAWISE.

Method of Application
Once you have completed the online application form, please email the following documents to sawise.scholarships@gmail.com using your name as the subject of the email.
  • Curriculum vitae
  • An official academic transcript (record)
  • Certified copy of your ID
  • Proof of acceptance for 2019 (if you have already been accepted)
Please be aware that prior to the allocation of any funds, any successful candidate will be required to submit hard copies of these documents as well as a letter of acceptance from the university at which they will be studying.

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SA WISE) is a dynamic association for all those who support the idea of strengthening the role of women in science and engineering in Africa. SAWISE aims to strengthen this role by inter alia raising the profile of women scientists and engineers; highlighting and addressing problems faced specifically by women in these fields; lobbying for the advancement of women in science and engineering; AND providing leadership and role models for young people wishing to enter the fields of science and engineering.
