Scholarship Description
Lingnan University offers scholarships to support outstanding overseas non-local students to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at the University. It offers cosmopolitan education within the lawful and secure Lingnan University community located in Hong Kong's free and open society.

Non-local students are those who are neither Hong Kong nor Chinese Mainland citizens. Applicants for the Non-Local Student Scholarships should have attained at a recognised post-secondary institution outside Hong Kong an equivalent qualification to the Admission Requirements of the University, as stipulated below.

Successful applicants will be awarded one of the following scholarships on an annual renewable basis: Full Scholarship, Tuition Scholarship or Half-Tuition Scholarship. The Non-Local Student Scholarships will only be used towards full-time undergraduate studies in the course programmes available at Lingnan University.

Lingnan University Non-Local (Overseas) Student Scholarships

Eligibility
For fulfilling eligibility for this scholarship, please note:
  • Non-local applicants (other than Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland citizens) are persons entering Hong Kong for the purpose of education with a student visa/entry permit issued by the Director of Immigration of the HKSAR Government.
  • Non-local applicants must have fulfilled the General Admission Requirements and English Language Requirements for admission to the University. For details, please see Undergraduate Admission Requirements
Credit Transfer / Course Exemption:
Non-local applicants who have passed public, professional, or other examinations recognised by the University or have successfully completed a course at an appropriate level offered by the University or another tertiary institution may apply for credit transfer/course exemption. Applicants who are granted a transfer of 54 credits or more will be admitted to be Year 3 students. For details, please see Credit Transfer/Course Exemption for New Students

Selection Criteria:
The Scholarship will be awarded to students who have good academic standing and good track record in community services. For candidates of comparable academic merits, preference will be given to the candidate with better proven records of community services. Candidates who apply for and do not get the Scholarship can still be considered for admission on fee-paying basis.

Sponsorship duration
Each Scholarship is offered on an annual renewable basis and is tenable for a period of up to the normal duration of study, subject to continued outstanding academic performance.

Scholarship benefits
Full Scholarship (covering tuition, hostel and partial academic and living expenses), Tuition Scholarship or Half-tuition Scholarship will be awarded to successful applicants per academic year. Each scholarship is offered on an annual renewable basis.

DEADLINES:
The application period for admission is from 16 October 2017 to 9 April 2018 (Early Round application closed on 31 December 2017). Online applications received after 9 April 2018 will be regarded as late applications. Late applicants have a lower chance of being admitted. No applications will be accepted after 10 July 2018.

Lingnan University (LN/LU) (formerly called Lingnan College), is the only public liberal arts university in Hong Kong. It aims to provide students with an education in the liberal arts tradition and has joined the Global Liberal Arts Alliance since 2012. Lingnan University became the first university in Hong Kong to accomplish the goal of providing 4-year full residence for all undergraduates and currently, 80% Lingnan students are able to go on exchange for a term during their undergraduate study.
