To attract top students from across the world each year while offering several scholarship opportunities, the University of Alberta (also UAlberta) in Canada offers the General Undergraduate Scholarships for students with outstanding academic potential.

The General Undergraduate Scholarships are broadly classed into the UAlberta Scholarships Requiring a Separate Application (i.e. aside the course program application), and the UAlberta Scholarships That Do Not Require a Separate Application. You Will Be Considered for These Scholarships After You Have Received Admission to UAlberta

The General Undergraduate Scholarships That Do Not Require a Separate Application comprise eight different scholarship grants. You will be automatically considered for them after you gain admission into the University of Alberta. Read on to see how to be considered for them. You do NOT need to apply for them separately. The scholarships and their eligibility criteria are as summarized below:

[1]. UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL COUNTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Field of Study: Open

Value: up to $5,000

Quantity available: Up to 95

Conditions:
Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement entering the first year of an undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta who are studying on a Study Permit. Selection based on academic standing with preference given to students from University of Alberta target regions. Students sponsored by a third party are ineligible.

Application procedure:
You will be considered for this award after you have received admission to the University of Alberta.

Decision timeline:
University of Alberta International Country Scholarship offers will be made on a rolling basis at or near the time of offer of admission.

[2]. UNIVERSITY OF ALBERTA INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE DIPLOMA SCHOLARSHIP
Field of Study: Open

Value: $2,000

Quantity available: Up to 10

Conditions:
Awarded to International Baccalaureate Diploma graduates with superior academic achievement entering or transferring into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the full IB diploma program.

Application procedure:
By nomination from the University of Alberta Registrar’s Office. Transcripts must be received in the Registrar’s Office by August 1.

University of Alberta International Baccalaureate Diploma Scholarship offers will be made in June–August 2017.

[3]. INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED PLACEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Field of Study: Open

Value: $2,000

Quantity available: Up to 10

Conditions:
Awarded annually to students who have superior academic achievement and Advanced Placement Scholar standing (as defined by the College Board) who are entering their first undergraduate degree program at the University of Alberta and studying on a Study Permit. Recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement on courses taken in the Advanced Placement program.

Application procedure:
By nomination from the University of Alberta Registrar's Office. Transcripts must be received in the Registrar's Office by August 1.

Decision timeline:
University of Alberta Advanced Placement Scholarship offers will be made in June–August 2017.

[4]. INTERNATIONAL A-LEVEL SCHOLARSHIP
Field of Study: Open

Value: $2,000

Quantity available: Up to 10

Conditions:
Awarded to student(s) on Study Permit(s) with superior academic achievement entering the first year of a University of Alberta undergraduate degree program. Selection based on academic achievement on a minimum of three courses taken at the A-level and/or AS-level.

Application procedure: Consideration upon receipt of A-Level transcripts.

Decision timeline:
University of Alberta A-Level Scholarship offers will be made in November–December 2017.

[5]. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
Field of Study: Open

Value: Up to $9,000 payable over four years

Quantity available: Variable

Conditions:
Awarded to students with superior academic achievement entering into their first undergraduate degree program, studying on a Student Visa Permit. Recipients will be selected on the basis of academic achievement. Should a renewable scholarship be offered, receipt of funding for the second, third, or fourth years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a full normal course load at the University of Alberta each year.

Awarded to student(s) with superior academic achievement entering the first year of any undergraduate degree program offered by Campus Saint-Jean, who are studying on a Student Visa Permit. Selection based on academic standing and demonstrated financial need.

[8]. FACULTY OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND RECREATION AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Field of Study: Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation

Conditions:
Awarded to students(s) on Study Permit(s) with satisfactory academic standing registered in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. Selection based on academic standing. Preference given to student(s) who have demonstrated leadership via extracurricular and community involvement. Renewal of funding for subsequent years is contingent upon achieving a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a minimum of 24 credit units of course weight per year in the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation.

DEADLINES:
Application deadlines vary by program. Most undergraduate programs accept applications until March 1 for September entry, however, there are exceptions.
