Scholarship Description
Bayer Foundations, involved in Promoting Talents Across Borders through its International Fellowship Program is happy to offer the Kurt Hansen Scholarship for STEM student teachers in biology and chemistry (up to Master's degree level).

For the program Kurt Hansen Scholarship, the focus is on study projects, internships, summer courses as well as supplemental courses of study for international students who would like to study, research or complete an internship in Germany, or Germans with up to two years work experience who would like to do a study project or gain practical work experience outside Germany.

Every year, the Bayer Fellowship Program targets students and apprentices in scientific and medical disciplines to support the next generation of researchers and teachers as they engage in “Science for a Better Life”. See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans.

Bayer Foundations Kurt Hansen Scholarship for Student Teachers

Eligibility
The Kurt Hansen Scholarship supports students who want to become
  • Science teachers (STEM)
Applicants should demonstrate a pioneering spirit for science teaching and education, above-average study grades, a high level of motivation and a compelling individual project idea.

The scholarship can be used for special study courses, individual teaching assignments, summer schools, research classes, internships, Master’s or PhD theses or special projects in STEM education, including training-on-the job.

Note: Scholarships are granted exclusively to students from Germany wishing to study abroad, or to foreign students who are interested in a study project in Germany. This program is not open to postdoctoral students.

The scholarship supports students who want to become Science teachers (STEM i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). Student teachers in biology and chemistry (up to Master's degree level) can apply for the Kurt Hansen Scholarship. Here, the focus is on study projects, internships, summer courses as well as supplemental courses of study

Scholarship benefits
The financing generally covers the cost of living, travel expenses and project costs. Each applicant is asked to set up an individual cost schedule to be approved by the Foundation Council.

Method of Application
Application is online via the official website but access to the online application form is accessible during the application period only (see deadline below). See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans. The following application documents are required for the Kurt Hansen Scholarship:
  • Confirmation letter from the foreign host institute/university on the planned project from September 2017 to August 2018
  • A description of the project (duration of 2-12 months) with financial plan within the timeline of September 2017 to August 2018. The project can consist of special study courses, laboratory assignments, research projects, summer classes, internships, Master’s or PhD programs.
  • Most recent transcripts
  • Any additional documents that would enhance the application
  • Job application photo (no photo of your passport, please)
