Do you carry a plan for social change? Or do you know someone who does? kanthari would be the place to be to be trained. kanthari is an accredited “leadership for social change” training institute in Kerala that offers a 7 month leadership training program.

kanthari in Trivandrum, Kerala, South of India, offers a 7 month, scholarship based leadership program for visionaries who have overcome adversity and who are keen to drive ethical social change anywhere in the world. Some have university degrees while others have little to no formal education; Some are blind or physically disabled, others have no disabilities at all. What is important is a sense of ownership, motivation, creativity, talent and passion to create a positive social impact.

kanthari Scholarship for Social Change

Eligibility
Requirements to apply for the kanthari program
  • Applicants need to be 22 years of age or older and must bring;
  • A plan to create an impactful social project/venture or initiative, have;
  • Intermediary English skills (reading, writing and speaking) and
  • Basic knowledge of how to use a computer

Scholarship benefits
The selected participants will qualify for a scholarship that covers the costs of food, accommodation and tuition. However, all travel fees and incidental expenses will be the responsibility of the participants.

Method of Application
We appreciate your interest in the kanthari training programme. Applications are welcome for the kanthari course. Before you continue to the application process, please make sure you inform yourself about kanthari and the goal of its training programme. The steps to your application are as outlined below:

Step 1: Application via online application form: kanthari will get a clear understanding of you, your project and vision for social change.

Step 2: Initial interview: In which our intake team will interview you over Skype to get a feel for your passion and clarity in regards to your chosen project. We will also answer any questions you may have about the program and application process.

Step 3: Write up of an Essay: In which you write about your history, your challenges, how you have dealt with these, and about your vision for social change.

Step 4: Follow up Interview: This Skype interview will be conducted by an independent expert to determine your suitability for this very intense course by building a personality profile.

Step 5: Final interview: This Skype interview will be done with the management of kanthari before a final selection decision is made.

kanthari is an accredited international institute that recognizes leadership in those individuals who come from and/or are positioned at the margins of society and have overcome major adversities in their lives. The intake is based on their talent, dreams and the major adversity (Pinching point) they have overcome. Our aim is to empower those “kantharis” who have gained strength from their adversities and, being a part of a target group similar to themselves, are intrinsically driven to create ethical social change.
