Program Description
ISM Students Association and ISM University of Management and Economics jointly organize Creative Shock as a global social business case competition for students which first took place in 2011. Participants every year are gathered to solve real life business, marketing and PR problems for social enterprises and organizations.

By organizing the Creative Shock competition, we seek to introduce students to real life global social business models and to communicate how all traditional business strategies can be applied to social enterprises and organizations, improve students’ strategic thinking by challenging them with real marketing and management problems, promote social business all around the world

Participants at Creative Shock have to solve two social business cases in the preliminary rounds. The best 10 teams gather in Vilnius, Lithuania to solve the two final cases.

Creative Shock Business Case Competition

Eligibility requirements:
  • Participants may apply either individually or in groups of 3-4. If registered individually, participants will be divided into teams of 3-4 before the first round and will manage their work by themselves using any means of communication available to the members.
  • All participants must be either Bachelors or Masters students from any discipline.
  • A participant is NOT allowed to have more than one team.
  • Organizers of previous years' Creative Shock are not allowed to apply
  • Team members are allowed to be from different universities and countries
  • The teams which send solutions after the given deadline will be disqualified
  • All material that is related with the competition will be provided in English
  • All assignments of any competition rounds have to be solved and submitted in English
  • All the materials provided for the participants must not be used for any commercial purposes without permission from the Creative Shock organizers
  • All the expenses for the finalists in Vilnius will be covered (accommodation, food, various activities, etc) except travelling costs

Preliminary rounds
1). First Round: In the first round teams of 3-4 students solve a social business case. Those who register as individuals will be divided into teams and will have to solve the case together with the assigned teammates virtually. First round solution counts for 60% of the final score of two preliminary rounds. The first preliminary round takes place online on Oct. 9 - 15.

2). Second Round: In the second round one of the social initiatives of the Baltic States is assigned to each of the teams. Participants have to create a low-cost, unconventional advertising idea with a view to promote the given initiative and publicize a social problem. The second round task is presented in short videos and evaluated by representatives of Lithuanian Marketing Association. Second round solution counts for 40% of the final score of two preliminary rounds. The second preliminary round takes place online on Oct. 16 - 25.

The best ten teams will reach the finals, which will be held at ISM University of Management and Economics in Vilnius on the Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

Prizes are:
1). Round-trip Plane Tickets
The winners of the competition get round-trip flight tickets, established by Turkish Airlines. They can be used in one year time period to any country of the winners' choice, that is in a list of provided destinations by Turkish Airlines.

2). Grand Prize
The best ten teams reach the Finals where they compete for valuable prizes. The winning team gets 2000 EUR grand prize.

Registration opens on the 17th of September and ends on the 8th of October, 2018. First preliminary round takes place between 9-15 October and the second preliminary round is between 16-25 October. The finals is scheduled between 29 November to 2 December 2018

Creative Shock is an international social business case competition organized every year since 2011, by the students of the ISM University of Management and Economics.

ISM University of Management and Economics is an institution of undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate education in business, management and economics. ISM was established in Kaunas in 1999 as the first privately owned institution of management education in Lithuania. The predecessor of ISM was the Business Training Centre, an executive training institution in Lithuania, which started in 1996.
