Scholarship Description
The ANU International University Scholarships are highly competitive awards that shall be offered to successful overseas applicants who have achieved at an excellent level in their final years of schooling before applying for tertiary studies for the first time.

A number of scholarships shall be available each year for international full fee paying students under the International University Scholarship of the Australian National University.

The Scholarship shall be available for an applicant who:
  • is defined as an overseas student under the terms of the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (dependents of the staff of diplomatic or consular missions are also eligible);
  • has not commenced any further education after completing their secondary studies, unless required by the University for the purposes of admission;
  • is applying for admission into tertiary study for the first time, unless required by the University for the purposes of admission;
  • has achieved at an excellent level in their final years of schooling, demonstrated by excellent results in their secondary studies qualification; and
  • has applied, and received an unconditional offer for admission to the Australian National University by the date advertised on the University website.
Only students receiving a score equivalent to an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 99.60 or above will be considered for this scholarship.

Selection criteria:
The Scholarship shall be awarded based primarily on academic merit, with consideration given to the applicant’s country of citizenship, choice of program and any other factors which the Registrar, Student Administration considers to be appropriate.

Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree programme in any field of study offered at the University.

The Scholarship is available to scholars undertaking a combined program, inclusive of an Honours Year in one of the programs.

Two (2) available for Semester 2, 2015

Sponsorship duration
The Scholarship will be awarded for the minimum full-time duration of any undergraduate program or combined program (including an Honours Year) registered by the University.

An extension of scholarship may be granted for students enrolled in ANU Vertical degrees beyond the undergraduate component of the program. A scholar must submit a written request to the Chair of the University Awards Sub-Group (the Chair) for the scholarship to be extended.

Scholarship benefits
The Scholarship shall cover 100% of the international student tuition fee cost each year, for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholars’ chosen undergraduate program, including an Honours Year.

The Scholarship will also cover 100% of the Overseas Student Health Cover cost each year, for the minimum standard full-time duration of the scholars’ chosen undergraduate program.

Scholars are responsible for the costs of books, study materials, accommodation, living expense, fares to and from Australia, and all other costs associated with study.

Method of Application
Eligible applicants applying for admission directly to the University or through UAC will automatically be considered. Students will not need to submit a separate scholarship application form to be considered for the scholarship.

In order to be considered for a scholarship, students will need to have received an unconditional letter of offer by the deadline.

The scholarship shall terminate at the conclusion of the minimum duration of the program for which it was awarded or on the date on which the scholar ceases to attend the University other than for approved absences, whichever is the earlier.

The University may terminate the scholarship before this time if the scholar does not fulfil his or her obligations or if, in the opinion of the Chair of the University Awards Sub-group, acting on the advice of the Registrar, Student Administration, satisfactory academic progress is not being made by the scholar.

The award of a scholarship does not carry any commitment by the University for future employment.
