Scholarship Description
The Graduate School of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Waseda University establishes international programs that allow students to earn degrees through programs conducted entirely in English language.

International scholarships are funded by the Yoshida Scholarship Foundation (YKK Leader 21) for 1 Master's or Doctoral student; Ting Hsin International Group, Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corp. Scholarship for a few Master's; and WASEDA University's "The Asia Special Scholarship" for 3 Master's or Doctoral students.

Eligibility
The following apply:
  • Yoshida Scholarship Foundation: This scholarship is awarded for student who is accepted to International Graduate Program (Master’s or Doctoral Program) after entrance examination (AO method).

    Student must have nationality of the countries (including Mongolia) in the following area: South East Asia, South Asia, West Asia, Central Asia, Africa. AND applicants must have bachelor degree or further degree from the universities in above countries and areas. Applicants must apply for this program from overseas.

    Applicants must be under the age of 30 for Master’s Program or under the age of 35 for Doctoral Program at the time of enrollment into the Graduate School of Waseda University.

  • Ting Hsin International Group, Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corp. Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded for students who are accepted to International Graduate Program (Master’s Program) after entrance examination (AO method). Applicants are required to be strongly committed to study at Waseda’s particular graduate school of his/her primary choice.

    Applicants must have nationality of the following country/regions: China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan, and must apply for this program from overseas, and have graduated or be scheduled to graduate with an undergraduate degree from universities in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan from June 2012 to March 2013.

    *Students who graduated from Taiwanese universities after June 2010 and completed their military service are eligible applicants. Applicants may not lodge their Ting Hsin Scholarship applications with two or more graduate schools. Failure to comply with this rule may result in losing eligibility for the scholarship.
All of the applicants must be under the age of 30 at the time of enrollment into the Graduate School of Waseda University.

  • WASEDA University "The Asia Special Scholarship" - nationals of Asian countries excluding Japan (refer to the “List of Participating Countries for Asia Special Scholarship”), and must apply for this program from overseas.

  • Master's Program:
    Students will take classes offered in English. Full time attendance for two years is necessary for a master’s course.
  • Doctoral Program:
    To obtain the doctoral degree, three years of postgraduate study with guidance is necessary, as a general rule.

*1: The entrance fee, tuition, educational environment improvement and experiments fees will be financed by Ting Hsin International Group, Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corp. and Waseda University. But students need to pay the fees of optional subjects, such as Japanese language classes, not compulsory in the master’s program, if they want to take.
*2: All flight tickets and other travel expenses incurred when coming to Japan should be privately financed.

PLEASE NOTE:
Application documents must arrive BY THE DEADLINE. The school DOES NOT accept applications that arrive after the application period.

Application method: Enclose all application documents in an envelope and send them to the address below to arrive by the deadline. You need to send them by EMS or an international courier service.

The school will send the e-mail about the result to all applicants' registered e-mail address by November 6,
2012 for entrance in April 2013, by February 4, 2013 for entrance in September 2013.
