Scholarship Description
Stellenbosch University has announced a Postdoctoral Fellowship at The Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) for South African nationals for study of China in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Centre for Chinese Studies is devoted to the study of China in Sub-Saharan Africa. Chinese Africa policies require methodologically sound empirical research, a clear understanding of inner-Chinese dynamics, and benefit from a comparative perspective. The CCS is working on the political, economic and environmental aspects of Sino-African relations.

We seek to strengthen our research team with a postdoctoral research fellow on Chinese Foreign and Security Policy in Africa.

Eligibility
You must satisfy the following for eligibility:
  • A PhD in political studies or international relations obtained in the past five years, preferably with a focus on China and/or Chinese foreign and security policy activities in Africa.
  • Working knowledge of Mandarin will be a particularly strong asset for the position.
  • The position is likely to involve empirical research in African countries; the willingness and ability to travel is assumed.
We particularly encourage applications from South African nationals with strong academic credentials, especially individuals from previously disadvantaged groups
