Scholarship Description
The Politecnico di Milano offers grants and scholarships to both Italian and foreign applicants, successful into one of its doctoral programmes.

The School was one of the first universities in Italy to establish a School of Doctoral Programmes in 2001 with a view to coordinating, assessing and monitoring the single doctorate programmes.

The Politecnico di Milano offers courses to develop complementary abilities, such as seminars of epistemology, research policy and management, elements of scientific communication, and so on, whereas the single doctorate provides subjects and infrastructures for research, specific education and tutoring.

Eligibility
Applications may be submitted by Italian and foreign citizens holding:
  • a degree obtained under the regulations previous to MD No 509 of 3.11.1999
  • a Master of Science obtained pursuant to MD No 509 of 3.11.1999
  • a Master of Science obtained pursuant to MD No 270 of 22.10.2004
  • or equivalent academic qualification obtained abroad, comparable in duration and contents to the Italian qualification and approved in advance by the competent academic authorities.
If the foreign degree has been declared equivalent to the Italian degree, applicants must specify the Italian university and the date of the rectoral decree declaring equivalency of the same. In the case of equivalence issued by MIUR, applicants should indicate the appropriate references.

If the foreign degree has not yet been declared equivalent to the Italian degree, applicants must file an explicit request for recognition in the application for participation in the competition and submit all documents useful for the relevant academic authorities to deliberate on the suitability of the foreign qualification.

All applicants are required to have proficiency in English, submitting to the PhD Registrar one of the certificates listed on the official website (link to it is below) no later than the deadline for the enrolment, if not already submitted at the deadline of expiry of the call.

Failure to submit certificates to the PhD Registrar within the established deadline for enrolment irrevocably results in the loss of the right to enrolment.

Scholarship benefits
For the three-year duration of their studies, PhD students can be supported by grants at a current monthly amount of €1000-1300 plus tuition fee waiver. The details are given in the "Call for Admission" (please see official website for current calls).

Method of Application
You must have been admitted into one of its three-year duration PhD programmes.

Access to Ph.D. programmes is by selection. The University selection call is launched annually for all Ph.D. programmes and published on the official website (link to it is below).

It is important to visit the official website (links are below) to access the most current call and apply to them.

DEADLINES:
Selection call is usually from April to May of each year. Enrollment are expected to be concluded by October each year, with the starting date of the PhD programme in November of that same year.

The deadlines for the call for admissions to academic year 2014-15 is 2pm on 23rd May 2014.

Notifications of admissions and scholarships are given by the end of July.
