Scholarship Description
The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) of the Republic of South Africa intends awarding comprehensive bursaries during the academic year 2011 to qualifying applicants.

These bursaries will be for those qualifying applicants pursing or intending to perusing or intending to further their studies in scarce skills fields, aligned to the mandate of the dti. These fields include Economics, Accounting, Econometrics, and Statistics.

Applications are invited from across nine provinces.

Eligibility
Requirements:
  • South African Citizen
  • Show Proof Of admission
  • Submit completed bursary application form, together with copies of admission letters, ID photos and certified copies of certificates /Performance results.
Eligible groups
Citizens of South Africa

Participating Institutions
University of Pretoria.

Applicants applying at other universities and other institutions of higher learning in South Africa, however, may also be eligible to apply

Fields of study
Undergraduate level study in approved courses. These approved fields of study are:
  • Bcom Economics
  • Bcom Econometrics
  • Bcom Accounting
  • Bcom Statistics
Number of awards
Not specified but several will be awarded

Sponsorship duration
These bursary awards will span the entire duration of undergraduate study for successful students

Scholarship benefits
The value will cover a substantial part of student's tuition fees

Method of Application
All interested applicants must fully satisfy the eligibility criteria as listed above. In addition, they must adequately fill in the Bursary Application Form.

All completed bursary application form, together with copies of admission letters, ID photos and certified copies of certificates /Performance results must reach the dti on or before the deadline date below. Submission to DTI is by post.

Application forms can be obtained from all office outlets of the South African dti, or from the Bursary dept of the University of Pretoria (including maybe all approved South African universities and other higher learning institutions).
