Scholarship Description
Trent University's Trent International Program (TIP) offers a limited number of highly competitive renewable Full and Tuition scholarships to students eligible for undergraduate admission to Trent, and who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Preference is given to high school graduates although transfer students are also eligible to apply.

These scholarships and Awards are tenable for up to four years of an Honours degree if a "B" average is maintained each year and are available for students entering the University in September only. TRENT-ESL students are eligible to apply for International Awards upon successful completion of the TRENT-ESL program.

All students except exchange and letter of permission students, will automatically be considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from CDN$1,000 to CDN$3,000.

[A]. Trent International Global Citizen Scholarships and Awards

  1. Trent International Full Scholarships
    Criteria: Outstanding academic achievement (top 3 in class), community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.

    Value: Approximately CDN$32,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition, ancillary, health insurance and living fees.

  2. Justin Chiu Global Citizen Scholarship
    Criteria: Outstanding academic achievement (top 3 in class), community and/or international service, excellent leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need. Open to students from Asia.

    Value: Approximately CDN$32,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition, ancillary, health insurance and living fees. Depending on need, may also include books, and/or other miscellaneous expenses.

    Quantity:1 every 4 years .

  3. Trent International Tuition Scholarships
    Criteria: High academic achievement (top 5 in class), community and/or international service, excellent leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.

    Value: Approximately CDN$20,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees.

    Quantity:4-7

  4. Trent International Levy Tuition Scholarship
    Criteria: Based on high academic achievement (top 5 in class), community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership as well as an assessment of finantial need. Open to students from developing countries.

    Value: Approximately CDN$20,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees.

  5. Trent International Awards and Trent Scotiabank Awards
    Criteria: Good academic achievement and a record of extra-curricular activities. Preference given to top candidates in scholarship competition.

    Value: Approximately CDN$2,000-$7,000 per academic year (8 months).

    Quantity: Varies, depending on the number of qualified applicants.

[B]. Designated International Scholarships

  1. Trent University-United World College Scholarships
    Criteria: Open to UWC graduating students nominated by their home UWC. Based on outstanding academic achievement (top 5 in class), community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.

    Value: approx. CDN$32,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees, health insurance, room and board. Depending on need, may also include books, and some other miscellaneous expenses.

    Quantity: 1- 3

    Nomination process: Students should contact their own United World College directly.

  2. Jack Matthews International Full Scholarship (Pearson College of the Pacific)
    Criteria: Open to graduating students from Pearson UWC of the Pacific and nominated by Pearson UWC, based on outstanding academic achievement (top 5 in class), international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership.

    Value: approx. CDN$32,000 per academic year (8 months). Covers international tuition and ancillary fees, health insurance, and living fees.

    Quantity: 1

    Nomiantion process: Students should contact Pearson College of the Pacific directly.

[C]. Trent University Entrance Scholarships

All students, Canadian and International, applying to Trent will be automatically considered for Trent University Entrance Scholarships, awarded for academic excellence. These range in value from CDN$1,000 to CDN$3,000. Students on a Year/Term Study Abroad at Trent are not eligible for Entrance Scholarship. ESL students are eligible for consideration, however the scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies (and not for ESL).

[D]. IB Entrance Scholarships

All international students applying for admission to Trent on the basis of IB diploma will be automatically considered for IB Entrance Scholarships.

To qualify for a CDN$1,000 IB Entrance Scholarship, students must have a minimum IB score of 28. The scholarship can be combined with a Trent University Entrance Scholarship.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
To apply for any of Trent's International Scholarships, you must have applied for admission into Trent University. Note that students are automatically considered for SOME Trent University's Scholarships when they apply for admission.

To apply, visit the Scholarship Application Kit webpage to download these application documents: "Application Form", "Reference Form", AND "Admission Application Form" (if you have already applied for admission to Trent University, do not submit this last form).

DEADLINES:
Only those scholarship applicants who have submitted all of the required admission and scholarship documents by February 15, 2017 will be considered for scholarships/awards.
