Scholarship Description
Bayer Foundations, involved in Promoting Talents Across Borders through its International Fellowship Program is happy to offer the Hermann Strenger Scholarship for apprentices and young professionals in non-academic professions.

The program Hermann Strenger Scholarship is focused on foreign assignments like projects, internships, supplemental courses or on-the-job assignments in a number of selected scientific and medical fields (see below) for both German and international non-German apprentices and young non-academic professionals.

Every year, the Bayer Fellowship Program targets students and apprentices in scientific and medical disciplines to support the next generation of researchers and teachers as they engage in “Science for a Better Life”. See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans.

Bayer Foundations Hermann Strenger Scholarship

Eligibility
The Hermann Strenger Scholarship promotes international work experience for:
  • Talents with a non-academic background
Applications are welcome from trainees, apprentices and young professionals who wish to gain work experience abroad, e.g. through on-the-job assignments, internships or training courses.

The following non-academic disciplines are particularly in focus:
  • Science-related work fields (e.g. lab assistants)
  • Health sector, healthcare professionals
  • Business administration, assistants
  • Technical professions
Note: Scholarships are granted exclusively to apprentices or young professionals from Germany who wish to work abroad, or to foreign apprentices or young professionals who are interested in a project assignment in Germany.

Apprentices and young professionals in non-academic professions can apply for the Hermann Strenger Scholarship. Here, foreign assignments like projects, internships, supplemental courses or on-the-job assignments in the following fields are in focus:
  • Careers in healthcare

Scholarship benefits
The financing generally covers the cost of living, travel expenses and project costs. Each applicant is asked to set up an individual cost schedule to be approved by the Foundation Council.

Method of Application
You need to apply online via the official website. However, access to the Online application form is only accessible during the application period (see deadline below). See also the Bayer Fellowship Programs for Africans. For the Hermann Strenger Scholarship, applicants must submit the following:
  • Confirmation letter from the foreign host institute/university on the planned project from September 2017 to August 2018
  • Most recent transcripts with good to excellent grades
  • A description of the project (duration of 2-12 months) with financial plan. The project can consist of special study courses, laboratory assignments, research projects, summer classes or internships
  • Job application photo (no photo of your passport, please)
