Scholarship Description
Umea University welcomes talented and high-achieving students from outside the EU/EEA to apply for one of the multiple scholarships offered to them by the University.

Scholarships offered by Umeå University include: Umeå University Scholarship, Erling-Persson Scholarship, Umeå School of Business and Economics (USBE) Scholarship, AND Umeå Institute of Design Scholarship.

This is a call to qualified international students from all countries outside the EU/EEA to apply for the Umeå University Scholarship for the academic year 2018/2019. Applications opened on 16 January 2018.

Eligibility
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The application is open for all students who are required to pay tuition. Umea welcomes you to apply for scholarship if you have;
  • completed your application for studies at UniversityAdmissions.se before 15 January 2018.
  • Umeå University programme as priority 1
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
The Umeå University Scholarship is a general scholarship programme offered by Umeå University, and it is open for students admitted to any of the Master's study programmes offered.

Selection criteria:
The selections for the scholarships are based entirely on the applicant’s academic merit. There is no focus on the students financial background. The selected students usually are academically talented and consistently high-achieving.

All Masters level courses offered in English at the University. More than 30 Master’s level study programmes are offered in English.

Sponsorship duration
The Scholarship is awarded for one year at a time and valid for the duration of the programme. It is renewed if the student performance is satisfactory.

Scholarship benefits
Selected candidates receive a FULL or PARTIAL reduction of the tuition fee.

Method of Application
To be eligible for selection for this scholarship, you must have completed your application for admissions into any of the Umea University Masters programmes via universityadmissions.se by 15 January 2018. You can visit the official website to start applications. After applying for the Masters programmes, application for the Umea University Scholarships is made online.

It is important to visit the official website (link to it is below) to access the application form and commence applications for this scholarship.

DEADLINES:
The new application round for the 2018-19 academic year opened on 16 January 2018. Application form for all scholarships offered by Umeå University is open until March 15, 2018.

PLEASE NOTE:
Scholarships administered by Umeå University are always in the form of reduction in the tuition. Selected candidates receive either partial or full reduction of tuition fees.

Scholarships administered by Umeå University do not cover cost of living expenses. Students are expected to cover these costs on their own. The Swedish Migration Board requires proof of financial support for the duration of the study programme, in order to grant a student residence permit.

You may apply for both the Swedish Institute scholarship AND the Umeå University Scholarships. However, should you be offered both the Swedish Institute Scholarship and the Umeå University Scholarship, the latter will be rescinded.
