Scholarship Description
The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) is pleased to partner The Garden Club of America (GCA) in a unique scholarship, the RHS Interchange Fellowship, which sets out to develop the horticultural leaders of the future.

The RHS and GCA Interchange Fellowship is a reciprocal exchange programme between British and American university graduates and horticultural students. It is jointly sponsored by the GCA in the United States and the RHS in the United Kingdom.

The RHS Interchange Fellowship for American Students is for studying at leading horticultural centres in the UK, and vice-versa for UK students. An American or UK student spends a year working and studying at leading horticultural centres in the UK or USA, respectively.

Eligibility
The RHS Interchange Fellowship is open to a single, unaccompanied American college graduate who has earned a BA or BS degree in horticulture, landscape architecture, or a related degree. Selected finalists are required to attend an interview at their own expense and will be notified of the time and place.

The GCA Interchange Fellowship is open to a British university graduate with a degree in horticulture, landscape architecture, botany or environmental studies, or to a British student horticulturist with a recognized horticultural qualification.

Accredited institutions in the USA and a range of prestige public gardens in the USA.
Several accredited leading horticultural centres in the UK.

Graduate level courses and internships in Horticulture

One award will be given to the UK, and another to the USA-

Sponsorship duration
One year of post graduate study or of non-academic practical work placement

Scholarship benefits
This scholarship offers financial aid towards either a year of post graduate study in the United States or a non-academic practical work placement (introduced in 2009) at a range of prestige public gardens.

The association of the Interchange Fellowship with the Royal Horticultural Society provides the opportunity for the American scholars to make a wide variety of contacts through the longstanding wealth of experience that the RHS has established within British and International Horticulture.

Method of Application
Applications, accompanied by references, must be returned by the announced deadline date.
