Mellon/Newton Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, UK

Mellon/Newton Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research Fellowships on the Basis of Equality of Opportunity

Study Subject: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
Employer: CRASSH
Level: Postdoctoral

Scholarship Description:
CRASSH is delighted to announce the first year of a five-year programme of interdisciplinary postdoctoral research fellowships funded jointly by the Mellon Foundation and the Isaac Newton Trust.

Applications are invited for two 2-year interdisciplinary Post-doctoral Research Fellowships aimed at researchers working in any field of the arts, social sciences or humanities, starting in October 2011. The fellowships will enable post-doctoral fellows to consolidate their research and publication record while developing a related project or initiative at CRASSH during their two-year fellowship.

Applicants must have completed the PhD and should normally have been awarded it not more than three years prior to taking up their fellowship. Fellows would be expected to spend at least half their time on their own research while initiating or co-ordinating a project at CRASSH. Such projects might include: convening a cross-disciplinary Graduate/Faculty research group; organising workshops, colloquia, or a conference in their field; creating an interdisciplinary research network; spearheading a collaborative cross-School or inter-institutional research initiative.

Scholarship Application Deadline: 1 April 2011
