Women Techmakers is Google's global program and brand for women in technology. Kicked off in 2012 by then VP of Google, Megan Smith, Women Techmakers is now led by Women in Technology Advocate (currently, Natalie Villalobos) and a global team of Googlers who are passionate about empowering women in technology through increased visibility, community, and resources.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, Google is inviting women around the world interested in Technology for the Women Techmaker Global Event. Each of Google's summits and meetups will be catered to local communities of women in technology. Summits and meetups around the world may feature hands-on coding workshops, inspiring speakers, and networking opportunities.
WHAT IS INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY?
International Women's Day (IWD) is marked on March 8th every year. In different regions, the focus of celebrations ranges from general respect and appreciation toward women to a celebration of women's economic, political, and social achievements.
Events are for women interested in technology. Attendance is limited to 18+.
Summits are hosted by Women Techmakers at Google Offices; while Meetups are hosted by Google Developer Groups at non-Google venues. You may attend only one summit, however you may attend multiple meetups.
CAN I ATTEND IF I'M NOT A WOMAN?
Absolutely. Google encourages support and insight from all genders and backgrounds. Google believes in inclusivity both in its workplace and in the programs and events it creates.

Each of the summits and meetups will be catered to local communities of women in technology. Summits and meetups around the world may feature hands-on coding workshops, inspiring speakers, and networking opportunities.
Google will not be providing transportation or accommodation assistance for any of the events. HOWEVER, stipends to supplement childcare costs may be provided in some locations. Please email Google at firstname.lastname@example.org with your summit location in the subject line for more details.
Method of Application
To attend a Women Techmakers Summit at Google offices worldwide (New York, Seattle, Mountain View, Zurich, Bangalore, Cambridge, Mexico city, London, Tokyo, Hyderabad, Lagos, Sao Paolo, Paris, Chicago), you will need to apply. Google encourages you to register to attend a Women Techmakers Meetup (in several towns worldwide) hosted by your local Google Developer Groups. You can also participate by joining the conversation to support women in technology by using the hashtag #WTM16 and #IWD16.
