The British Council is calling on Nigerian writers to send applications for an event it is organising with Granta Magazine, UK (www.granta.com) and the Kenyan literary journal Kwani (www.kwani.org/publications/kwani-journal.htm) on the 18th till the 23rd of June 2013.
The event will comprise three parts: a public salon event, a reading for students and a workshop for new and aspiring writers. The events will all revolve around the theme of the ‘new writer and the space occupied by new writing’.
The British Council will select and sponsor 2 writers based on the criteria below, to attend the workshop in Nairobi.
To participate, you must satisfy the following criteria:
- Writers that are between the ages of 18 and 35
- Evidence of having at least one piece of fiction published anywhere, even online.
- Must be a writer who wants to develop their practice and publish internationally.
- Applicants need to have valid international passports and must be available to travel to Kenya on the 18th of June to return on the 23rd of June 2013
