Scholarship Description
The National University of Singapore (NUS) PhD-MBA is a doctoral programme for entrepreneurial scientists and engineers. The NUS PhD-MBA is jointly hosted by the NUS Graduate School for Integrative Sciences and Engineering (NGS) and the NUS Business School (NBS).
Scholarship funding for the NUS PhD-MBA is strictly under the NGS Scholarship scheme (NGSS) only. The NGS Scholarship is awarded to talented students with an aptitude for innovative, high calibre PhD research. The NGS Scholarship is open to applicants worldwide. Students develop their research skills by doing a PhD in a scientific or engineering discipline. Concurrently they learn about business by working on an MBA. Internships provide practical experience.
Upon successful defense of a thesis and the fulfillment of the requirements for the MBA, students are conferred a PhD and an MBA degree. Students may graduate with only a PhD, but not with only an MBA. The PhD-MBA is designed to take students between 4 to 5 years to complete.

Students with a Bachelors or Masters degree in any scientific, engineering, maths or IT discipline, are eligible.
Selection criteria:
Valuing the wide range of backgrounds of potential students, factors that the recruitment committee will weigh when making decisions on admissions into the NUS PhD-MBA are: academic records, standardized test scores, research experience, startup and industry experience, completed internships, interest in and involvement in entrepreneurship and business, as well as good English.

Award is for a 4 year period. Award is renewable, subject to satisfactory academic performance of CAP ≥ 3.8 at the end of every semester.
Scholarship benefits
Successful applicants will be offered a scholarship covering the tuition fees for both the PhD and the MBA. During the PhD candidature, they will also be offered a stipend for living expenses, as well as allowances for books, a computer and conferences, all tax free, for 4 years.

Ensure all fields are properly completed before you "Submit" your online application. Thereafter, print out your completed application form, sign the form and with your supporting documents, e-mail a PDF compilation, and also post the hardcopy package. You must also complete a critical Google Questionnaire.
Only COMPLETE (with all required documents) application(s) received BEFORE the application deadline will be processed. Completed / Incomplete application received AFTER the application deadline will be automatically considered for the next Intake.

The application closing dates - applicable to BOTH PDF softcopy and hardcopy package - for the respective intakes are as follows: i). August 2018 (AY2018/19 Semester 1) - Application opens on 1 September 2017, and closes on 15 November 2017; ii). January 2019 (AY2018/19 Semester 2) - Application opens on 30 March 2018, and closes on 15 May 2018.
