Scholarship Description
The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) provides challenging research opportunities for outstanding university graduates who wish to work towards a PhD within the scope of the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Cell Biology and Bioengineering (IMPRS-MCBB).

The IMPRS-MCBB provides interdisciplinary training and research opportunities in a highly attractive and inspiring research environment for outstanding University Graduates who wish to work towards a PhD in the fields of Molecular Cell Biology, Bioengineering, Developmental Biology, Genetics, Biophysics, Neurobiology and Bioinformatics.

Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility
Outstanding university graduates from any country with the intent to work towards a PhD within the scope of the IMPRS-MCBB. There is no country-specificity.

Eligible PhD work must be within the scope of the IMPRS-MCBB.

Citizens of SEVERAL countries (over 30 countries in total)

Fields of study
Doctoral level studies in Cell and Developmental Biology/Regenerative Medicine/Nanobiotechnology, Biophysics and Bioengineering.

PhD students have a primary affiliation with one of the participating research groups, and are enrolled as graduate students at the TUD. The language of the PhD Program is English.

Number of awards
The IMPRS-MCBB hosts about 150 PhD students from over 30 countries in total. Admission to the IMPRS-MCBB is highly competitive, with approximately 40 candidates being admitted each year.

Sponsorship duration
The duration of thesis is 3 to 4 years

The International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Cell Biology and Bioengineering (IMPRS-MCBB) is a joint program of the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) and the Technische Universit├Ąt Dresden (TUD), and was established as one of the first International Max Planck Research Schools by the Max Planck Society in 2001.

The Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG) is a biology research institute located in Dresden, Germany. It was founded in 1998 and was fully operational in 2001. 24 research groups work in molecular biology, cell biology, and developmental biology, supported by various facilities.
