List of Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Awards and Educational Endowment Funds for Nigerian Undergraduate students

The Nigeria LNG project is considered one of the most important economic projects being carried out in Nigeria. The project is a vital part of the Federal Government's diversification programme and has already generated significant revenues and foreign exchange for the nation.

1). NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme
The NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme is an area of intervention in human capital development. NLNG awards scholarships yearly to Nigerian students from its host communities and beyond in tertiary institutions. 2). NLNG Cadet Scholarship Scheme (Specialist Education Scholarship Scheme)
The Cadet Scholarship scheme which started in 2006 with eleven (11) beneficiaries is of the specialized category and entails the facilitation of admission and issuance of scholarship for the training of successful candidates from our host communities in the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron. To date, a total of 31 cadets have been on the scheme. The scholarship covers all fees for the duration of the programme (2 years) including fees for the mandatory courses.
Each year a total of 100 candidates from our host communities are mobilized to participate in the Maritime Academy entrance examination in various centers across the country. Out of this number, successful candidates are then mobilized for the final stage, which is the interview, and this lasts for a period of one week. a). NLNG Agro-Enterprise Development Action (N-AGENDA)

b). Integrated Top-Up Scheme
The Integrated Top-Up Scheme (I.T.S) formerly known as the Bonny Education Endowment Fund (B.E.E.F) started over 13 years ago as an intervention by Nigeria LNG Limited to stem the mass movement of Bonny based teachers in Post-Primary schools from the Classrooms to Construction sites which was the case during the construction phase of the NLNG plant site. It involves the payment of a quarterly top-up allowance to Principals, Academic and non-Academic staff of Government Post-Primary Schools on Bonny Island. At present, the scheme has been extended to also support health workers in Bonny General Hospital the Health centers in Bonny and Finima. Following a survey analysis in 2003 to ascertain the performance of the ITS as a veritable mechanism of human capital development since its inception in 1997, it became necessary to review the implementation strategy toward the support of this programme with the view of positively improving overall performance.
The ITS has on average about 190 academic and non-academic staff yearly from Community Secondary School (CSS) Bonny, Community Secondary School (CSS) Burukiri, Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Finima and Bonny National Grammar School (BNGS) Bonny. c). NLNG Science Quiz competition
The NLNG Science Quiz Competition which is in its fourth session is conducted in collaboration with Rivers State Ministry of Education for secondary schools in the state. This programme started in 2006 with only a few host communities participating. Today, this competition now brings together students and teachers from all the secondary schools in the 23 LGAs of Rivers State to compete healthily for the most coveted trophy. 5). NLNG Youth Empowerment Scheme (NLNG YES)
NLNG YES is a sustainable development initiative of the company specifically targeted at youths within NLNG host communities to make them more economically and socially responsible and self reliant, via business and vocational skills acquisition through technical and managerial training. YES is the product of a paradigm shift in community development and is a conscious effort to promote self reliance, encourage the growth of small scale businesses and promote economic empowerment.
